I was born in Gunnison, CO to an amazing, supportive family. Growing up in the mountains gave me the perspective about water as a very precious resource at an early age. Much of my life, in both play and livelihood has revolved around water: from playing in rivers and lakes and learning to ski as a child, to attending school surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound, to a career in raft guiding and river conservation. The inspiration for my artwork undoubtedly comes from spending so much time on and around rivers, water, and in the wilderness. I obtained my bachelor's degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in Studio Arts with an emphasis on printmaking. At school I dabbled in many different mediums and styles, and emerged with a particular infatuation with silk screen printing and strong interest in patterns found in nature. From there I developed a homemade screen printing setup and began creating reduction prints, a process which can be used to create multi-colored prints from just one screen. It is amazing how relatively few materials you need to create editions of 20, 30, even 100 prints using this method! I love the meticulous process of printing, the playfulness and texture of the ink, the bright colors and bold contrasts, the reusable materials, and perhaps most of all, pulling a fresh new color, lifting the screen, and seeing my prints come to life layer by layer. I am grateful to have the support of so many friends and family members that continually push me to grow and develop as an artist! Thank you for your interest!
Please reach out to me with questions and comments, I would love to hear from you. I will consider commissioned work on a case by case basis.
